YCT Students Attend Rally at UN

On Monday 20 September 2006, about a dozen YCT students (including some graduates, as well) attended the rally at the UN, attended by dozens of thousands of people, including many Jews.
On 18 September 2006, Rabbi Dr. David Hartman came and spoke to the students and faculty of YCT. He spoke on a variety of issues, focusing primarily on the rabbinate and the challenges that lay ahead in the diaspora for rabbis and for the necessity of good rabbis. There were others, of course, including Orthodoxy. It was certainly an interesting talk.
On Sunday 17 September, about a dozen YCT students attended the rally for Darfur in Central Park (pictured is Rabbi Avi Weiss speaking to third-year student Yerachmiel Shapiro at the rally). As opposed to the previous Darfur rally which YCT students attended in DC, this was a smaller rally and, of course, also closer to many of the students.
On Monday 28 August 2006, Yeshivat Chovevei Torah began its eighth year of school. For the second year in a row, classes are being held at the Kraft Center, also home of the Columbia Hillel.
