Rabbi David Hartman Speaks at YCT

Rabbi Avi Weiss introducing Rabbi Dr. David Hartman before he speaksOn 18 September 2006, Rabbi Dr. David Hartman came and spoke to the students and faculty of YCT. He spoke on a variety of issues, focusing primarily on the rabbinate and the challenges that lay ahead in the diaspora for rabbis and for the necessity of good rabbis. There were others, of course, including Orthodoxy. It was certainly an interesting talk.

David Hartman Does Not Belong In Rabbinical School Because He Applies Ailu V’Ailu To The Reform Approach, The Conservative Approach, Christianity, And Islam.
The Orthodox Jew Knows That Whatever Norm Or Value That Contradicts Torah Is False.

What does that mean, the reform approach? Reform approach to what specifically. Hartman is not invalidating halacha. He's talking philosophy here and saying most that there should be dialogue and respect. He's not saying that that conservative approach to halachah is correct in the eyes of OJ nor in his eyes.
